20202020 review.
Not withstanding the Global Pandemic and £300,000 legal bill, 2020 was a challenging year for Take Flight Aviation. Despite an agreement by the landowners at Wellesbourne Airfield and Stratford District Council in a Memorandum of Understanding to maintain a flying club at EGBW and to enter into talks with ALL the existing tenants to offer a temporary lease agreements, the landowners insisted on evicting Take Flight Aviation without such negociations in a pre-meditated breach of the agreement and seemingly deliberately making the airfield financially unviable. It's disappointing especially given the former leader of SDC acknowledged that without Take Fights actions the airfield would already be closed. Wellesbourne's Parish Council have also highlighted SDC's failures, in that the district council have failed to hold the landowners to account or stand by the commitments they made to all the businesses and an agreement that underminds the neighbourhood plan. That said the cream always rises to the top and its the people that have made Take Flight Aviation what it is and we appreciate the members and team that have stuck with us, despite our enforced move. We were always proud of our community involvement in Warwickshire winning both local and national awards, being the first flying club to offset its carbon emissions and the positive impact we have had on peoples lives over the last fifteen years.
