Dabbling Duck Out!13th November 2022. It was a foggy start to the final fly-out of the Take Flight Aviation year, and with 20 people hoping to fly to Sunday lunch at Great Massingham (Norfolk) in seven aircraft, it was too much to hope that it would lift in time! After a morning spent drinking tea in the clubhouse - and observing the two minutes’ silence for Remembrance Sunday - the cloud finally began to break and a couple of pilots went up for a test circuit. Sure enough, the fog had moved northwards, leaving our part of the country basking in glorious sunshine.
The fog cleared a little earlier for the Coventry-based Piper Malibu, which was able to depart with its instrument-rated pilot, but for the rest of the group it was too late to get to Norfolk in time for the table booking. Instead, a closer destination was chosen in the form of the ever-reliable Turweston Aerodrome near Brackley. Quite a few aviators had had the same idea, and the airfield was a hive of activity by the time the team touched down. After a delicious lunch in the fantastic Flight Deck Cafe, the pilots enjoyed the flight back to Enstone in the golden light of the setting sun - a fitting end to a brilliant year’s flying. |
