LEARN TO FLY
Learning to fly is one of the most rewarding things you will ever undertake. It is also a serious commitment of both your time and money so it’s important to do your research and make informed decisions about your training, which is hopefully why you are here. Your training will include Ground training and exams in different subjects, Dual flying lessons with an instructor, Solo flying training and Flight test. Check out our PPL guide for more details.
Minimum age requirements 17 years old to hold a licence for aeroplanes, 16 for solo flight. Training can be logged from 14. Medical Standards Prior to starting training for any pilot licence it is worth considering the medical standards required. You will need to have a medical examination and be given a medical certificate in order for your licence to be valid or fly solo. A good place to start is to contact our resident AME Dr Henry White. If you haven’t flown a light aircraft before we can offer you an hours taster flying lesson where we can explain fully what to expect during your PPL training. Your trial lesson will consist of a pre-flight brief on how the aeroplane works and how you control it. Your instructor will show you around the outside and inside of the aircraft on the ground and then when you take to the air the instructor will start to teach you the effects of the controls and you will be able to see if learning to fly is for you. At the end of the lesson, we’ll issue you with a certificate with all the details of your flight which can be counted towards your total PPL training hours. We also offer starter packs of five hours which give you a real taste of learning to fly and you can see if it's for you. Judging by the smiles most people love it! Take Flight Aviation is a CAA registered training facility offering training for an EASA PPL divided into two parts.
