Bembridge - Isle of Wight1st September 2018. Take Flight Aviation was on tour again making the most of the remaining summer sunshine although it was technically the first day of Autumn. One of our many Cessna 152s, our lovely Cessna 172, two of our PA-28s and a PA-32 made the trip down to Bembridge airport on the Isle of Wight, just off the South Coast of England. The airport has been in operation since 1921 although no longer licenced it is still manned at the weekends by what remains of the Vectis Gliding club that currently sadly are no longer gliding.
The island is the second most populous island in England and lies just two miles off the coast across the Solent in the English Channel. The island is 23 miles long and 13 miles wide. Our group of Pilots and their passengers enjoyed a hearty meal at The Propellor Inn which was re-opened in 2016 by Chris and Annie after extensive refurbishment. Then it was a stroll to the beach to work off that lunch before ice cream! |
