Fenland Airfield Sunday Lunch Day-Trip.6th August 2017. Those people who attended our monthly first Wednesday event on Farm Strips and Grass Strips hosted by Peter and David were keen to practice their new skills and take the pleasant 45 minute flight to this wonderful friendly airfield with its grass runways. We had a reserved space in the café where the lovely Katie cooked our Sunday Lunch with homemade puddings and cakes to follow.
Mike meet with the airfield owners and checked out the tower team including the helpful Ray an ex- Gatwick and Heathrow controller. It's hard to image that in a straight line it's only 67 miles to Fenland, often referred to as capital of the Fens and just another 10 miles to the east coast and The Wash. The airfield has two grass runways 18-36 which is 600 metres and 08-26 a slightly longer 670 metres and is definitely worth a visit. |
