ILE DE RAE - LA ROCHELLE FLY-OUT 2015

​3rd - 6th April 2015. Four aircraft made the trip to La Rochelle which is a short distance from the Island "Ile de Re". The trip had a flying time of around three hours and some aircraft made use of a cheap fuel stop in Jersey.  La Rochelle has a commercial airport (LFBH) with a 2,255 metre runway with around 250,000 passengers per annum. It is a short ride taxi away from the lovely island which is connected by a 2.9 kilometre bridge. The island is just 19 miles long and 3 miles wide has some nice beaches, ideal for exploring by bicycle on its many cycle paths, as it is relatively flat with the highest point just 66 feet high. We stayed in Hotel de Port in Saint-Martin overlooking the delightful quay full of restaurants, bars, shops and a market and we enjoyed all those delights!
